Annual energy expenditure


A tower should be operational for 10 hours per frost event and we can have about 10 events on average per year. Thus we will have 100 hours/year of use for the different towers to be compared.

  • Motor installed at height and directly coupled to the rotor shaft with speed reducer.
  • Engine power: 30 hp or 22 kw with variable speed drive.
  • Mounting: Rotor mounted on a 2.0 meter profiled turret that rotates together with the rotor, reducing the noise produced by the wind passing through the structure.
  • Rotation angle control: from 90° to 360°.

Operations and consumption

  • Temperature sensors at the base and rotor of the tower.

  • Backup generator of 50 kva if there is no mains power supply.
  • Theoretical diesel generator consumption of 6 liters/hour (235 grams/kwh).
